Our Church Officers The Officers of our church consist of Elders and Deacons . The Book of Order of the Presbyterian Church (USA) describes the role and responsibilities of the officers, which are defined as follows: Elders are elected by the congregation to serve on the Session which is the governing body of the church. They also serve as leaders and chairs of the various working Ministry Teams. The Session has oversight of all groups formally related to the church. Deacons are elected by the congregation to serve in the ministry of responding to the special needs of families or individuals in crisis, and to prayerfully lead our whole church family in the ministry of care-giving. In this congregation they also are responsible for the preparation of Communion. Trustees are designated by our bylaws as fiscal officers for the non-profit corporation.
